This particular weekend I was doing double duty. After unloading Pat Benatar’s trucks and setting up the stage, I had to head over to the baseball stadium to set up for Wingfest 2013, which I’ll blog about later.
Pat Benatar had the largest wardrobe closets I’ve dealt with the whole concert season. It seemed a bit excessive considering she would play for about 90 minutes. The gear on stage followed suit. 4 guitar cabs and 4 bass cabs as bookends for a grand piano.
I had to be very careful not to be seen taking any pictures since it makes Pat uncomfortable. She’s sort of a diva, sad to say. One of the tech’s was discovered taking pictures of the stage during the concert and the drummer, Myron Grombacher, motioned for them to be removed. This was the only band to ever give a shit. So many of the artists that come through are more grounded, approachable, and in some cases, eager to hang and talk. This band, not so much.
There was a decent crowd for this concert. Everyone sang the hits like good, drunk fans always should.
This was the last shot I cared to take considering the diva’s attitude toward pictures. Maybe she’s self conscious of her ass?
I left right after this shot and didn’t load this gig out. After an early start for this show, then heading over to the Bison’s stadium to set up for a long weekend of celebrating chicken wings, I just went home to bed.
